Go up to Kerning City located west of Victoria Island and you'll find Thieves' Hideaway at a cafe in the basement. Inside you'll find the Dark Lord, a recluse of kerning City. Talk to him, and he'll judge your worth as a possible thief. If you are at least in Level 10 with DEX of 25 or over, you'll advance as the Rogue.

From Dark Lord at the Thieves' Hideaway, you'll receive a Level 1 Skill Book called "Thief Introduction" Open the skill menu and you'll see the list of skills you can learn, and with the SP available for you to invest in skills you'd like to master.
You'll receive 3 SP for every level up, and some of the skills require you to master other skills first. The book has basic skills of a thief that specializes in fast attack and hiding, and the skills available in "The Basics of a Thief" are as follow.

Nimble Body
Increases accuracy and avoidability.
Keen Eyes
Increases the range of attack using throwing weapons such as throwing stars & knives.
Disorder
Temporarily decreases the morale of an opponent. Its weapon def. and attack will suffer, and the attacking enemy will suddenly stop attacking. Can't perform the attack on an enemy that's already in "disorder", however.
Dark Sight
Use MP to hide behind the shadows. While hiding, the enemy won't attack, but you can't attack back either. All movements other than attacking are available. It's temporary, so after a while, you'll be back to normal.
Double Stab
Use MP to quickly stab an enemy twice at once using a dagger.
Lucky Seven
Use MP to throw 2 throwing stars and apply damage based on LUK, regardless of the rate of javelin mastery.
